Flashes are pre-colored tattoo designs normally displayed in tattoo studios to inspire clients and showcase artists’ work. But what makes Adrián De La Fuente’s Tattoo Flash 365 unlike any other flash collection is that it was created under unique circumstances: the isolation imposed by the 2021 global lockdown.
“During the isolation period, I had so many ideas for tattoos, but I couldn’t offer them to my clients – so instead, I decided to paint them by hand, one day at a time” explains Adrián. “As I painted more and more, the work became a haven of peace and inspiration. For me, this collection has come to symbolize the resilience of the human spirit and the power of art to uplift us in even the most difficult circumstances.”
An enduring passion
Back in 2012, Adrián left his whole life behind – friends, family, and career – to train as a tattoo artist in Argentina. And that passion is evident in the intricate brushwork and playful compositions that leap off the pages of Tattoo Flash 365. “Adrián’s work is a rich kaleidoscope of invention and variation,” says André van Zomeren, Founder of Kintaro Publishing. “It’s a masterclass in combining old-school traditions with influences from all over the world.”
Printed in the Netherlands on the finest EOS IBO paper, Tattoo Flash 365 reproduces all of Adrián’s paintings in breathtaking detail. “This project has allowed me to free my creativity and reaffirm who I am as an artist,” concludes Adrián. “Now, every time I tattoo one of these designs, I’ll remember how this period of my life helped me to rediscover the simple joy of the flash.”
